How Meditation Can Change Your Perspectives πŸ‘Œ ?!

Meditation practice is about learning to look and observe.

We don’t use our eyes though; we use our conscious awareness which is developed and cultivated through practice. Knowing the ‘world’ this way towards discovery are the new eyes Proust describes:

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”

Not seeking new experiences outside but delivering new worlds on the inside.

By directing attention in this way we help create a subtle change in perspective towards ourselves and in doing so, change how we see and experience the world around us. With practice you will know how to use these ‘new eyes’ and recognise that the real journey of discovery is inwards, not outwards. We don’t need to seek new external landscapes to be different, we only need to travel inwards to see and know the wonder of who and where we are.

Where we are

Our starting point in meditation is where we are.

You don’t need to wait or go anywhere special to begin your practice. Where you are and who you are right now is a perfect starting point. In fact, it’s the only starting point.
And we don’t need anything special either. Our equipment is the body, breath, mind, senses and the environment that surrounds you.

In other words: right here, right now.

Gently closing the eyes and learning to turn our attention inwards, as our chest rises and falls, without attachment is the goal. After regular practice your intuition, your inner wisdom, displaces your limiting usual thinking and approach to the world.

Wake up

After a while your whole perspective on the universe, who you are, what you can do and why, is transformed.

Or better still, uncovered. This is called waking up.

Seeing things as they really are is not giving up; it’s taking control. Once you take charge you become responsible for being human.

You realise that where you are right now in the present moment is the only opportunity you have to be alive. To know who you really are, to know who you are and what you can really do.

Everything else is distraction.

The term meditation simply means to be present. To turn up, to attend to the present moment right here, right now. Because that is where all the good stuff is. Your creativity, your energy, your insight, your comparison, your life.

To remember to use your body to move around the planet and use it with real purpose. Using your hands to create and your mind to know and direct your attention wisely.

But where we are now…

Right here, right now

To practice you don’t need to do, go or be anything special. In fact where you are right now, who you are right now and what you are doing right now is perfect. Don’t wait for something else to happen, this is it!
