This week we are talking all about Vata! It is Vata season , which means it is mostly cold, dry and mobile (wind) in the weather patterns. It is important to keep this dosha in balance and in its proper seat to avoid production and accumulation of toxins. Vata dosha is a combination of the air and ether elements. This represents action, movement and transportation. The qualities of Vata are dry, light, cold, rough, subtle and mobile. Vata is in our movements, actions, breathing, speech, detox, heart pumping and sense of touch. It is the kindler of digestive fire, opener of cell walls and channels, and develops and delivers babies. The seat of Vata is in the abdominal cavity bellow the belly button in the large intestine and colon. It is also in the pelvis, thighs, skin, ears, bones, heart, brain, nervous system and lungs. As garden lovers it is assumed that we all should know and grow these
medicinal plants that form an integral part of Ayurvedic medicine. The
immense contribution of these plants in making our lives better can’t be
thanked enough.
In this post, let’s find out which of these can be easily grown in our gardens.
This lovely plant prevents diabetes, its leaves and flowers are
extensively used as natural remedy for haircare. Hibiscus can be easily
grown in the garden and is easy to maintain once it grows to a
considerable length. Grow in the ground for best results.
2. Henna
Henna, the natural hair colouring material famously used in India is
also an excellent medicinal plant. Ayurveda medicine uses its leaves to
treat many diseases related to digestive system, respiratory issues and
lifestyle related ailments.
3. Brahmi
Brahmi grows well in pots. But ensure that it is not exposed to
direct sunlight. The leaves are used to improve memory and learning, to
get rid of worms in the stomach and also as a remedy for skin related
disorders.
4. Coriander
Coriander, the most essential ingredient of almost all the recipies,
finds a special place in the Ayurvedic medicine. Its seeds are used to
treal Gastric related problems. Its juice is very healthy and consuming
it can be prevent many diseases including hypertension.
5. Curry Leaves
Curry leaves have the potential to cure diabetes naturally. Consuming
it for months is know n to be effective for combating many diseases
including skin related disorders. Using it regularly in dishes can keep
us healthy.
Delicate, apple-scented chamomile demonstrates that mildness does not
mean ineffectiveness. Primarily grown for its small, yellow-bellied

9. Marshmellow
The root is consumed to treat inflammations and irritations of the
urinary and respiratory mucus membranes, to counter excess stomach acid,
peptic ulceratio and gastritis. Externally, the root is applied to
bruises, sprain, aching muscles, insect bites, skin inflammations and
splinters.
The leaves are very edible, unlike the aloe vera. They can be added
to salads, boiled, or fried. It is known to help out in the area of
cystitis and frequent urination.
10. Neem
This bitter tasting plant was the first natural tooth brush used by
our ancestors as it provides a soli protection against toothaches and
prevents the dieseases related to gums. Its juice is known to possess
excellent medicinal properties and is regular used in Ayurveda to treat
many types of illness.
